The home of a Playstation 3 hacker has been raided by the police in Germany.

At the behest of Sony, yesterday the home of graf_chokolo – the operator of the PS3 Linux And Hypervisor Reverse Engineering Blog – became the latest target in the Sony jailbreaking saga.

“Availibility of the internet indeed is important but less so than electricity when looking at the needs for daily life. Households cannot function without electricity because it prevents them from providing life’s essentials such as food and heat.”

That’s why Internet Service Providers are allowed to disconnect subscribers as opposed to energy suppliers.

The government also feels there is no reason to implement Net Neutrality regulation. If access to certain online services is being blocked, subscribers can simply hop to another provider.

When asked about annoying pop-up ads or prerolls, the government advises to use a browser with an ad blocker.

Microsoft’s Bing has integrated Facebook “Liked Results,” which highlights links that your friends have publicly shared or liked.

The move is the result of Microsoft’s partnership with Facebook and illustrates how search is trying to be more social. Microsoft surfaces Facebook while Google integrates Twitter in results. The big question for Google is whether it can have social results without Facebook.

The plug-in essentially syncs Office files with an online counterpart that lives in Google Docs, which allows users to always see the most recent version of a file, whether they’re viewing it in a browser, in an Office app or even on a mobile device.

That means no more emailing a Word document between multiple people, only to be confused about which is the most recent. It means being able to see, in real time, as your colleague updates the sales figures in your spreadsheet – while you’re working on it. It means being able to literally drop an image into your colleague’s PowerPoint presentation.

Only recently referred to on a spoof website, and now suddenly cold hard reality. Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reports that a muslim lady had been refused access to a Dutch public swimming pool because of her burkini http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burqini.

The woman is simply amazed: “It’s just a swimsuit with long sleeves and trousers. How can they have an issue with that?”

Swimming pool employees told her that the swimsuit was “offensive” and they recommended her to keep clear of the swimming pool in the future.

The scrutiny of the European arrest warrant system needs to begin now, it cannot be the case that filling two pages with someone’s name and a suspicion – not a charge – can lead to their extradition to one of 26 European nations.

Three people a day are being extradited from the UK under a rubber stamp process.

This follows a survey, attributed to the Norsk Tipping state gambling monopoly, suggesting that tough measures to curb online gambling already taken by the Norwegian government had failed: far from reducing the incidence of online gambling, more Norwegians than ever – some four per cent of Norwegians of those over the age of 18 – were depositing money on foreign gambling sites

The cartoon referred to in this article  appears to be highly controversial in The Netherlands, forcing the Dutch public broadcaster VARA to issue a press release stating that:

  • as of today the cartoon will no longer be displayed on the (VARA owned) blog Joop.nl;
  • the VARA has decided to have the cartoon removed due to the serious threats that have been made in the direction of VARA employees;
  • the VARA has filed a complaint with Dutch police authorities regarding these threats;

Meanwhile, the cartoon, which refers to plans of the Freedom Party of Geert Wilders to have vandals ( Tuig ) live in container appartments outside city limits, has indeed been removed from the original blog page: http://www.joop.nl/wordt_vervolgd.html

…but the image itself is still available here: http://www.joop.nl/uploads/RTEmagicC_Wordt-vervolgd.jpg.jpg

Howard Riddle, the chief magistrate, delivered his ruling at a hearing at Belmarsh magistrates court in London. It is unlikely to be the end of the matter, however, because an appeal is expected, which would delay the final decision until the summer at the latest
