A matter of quickly replacing the hacked DigiNotar certificates, avoiding any negative effects as a result of decisions by web browser makers and other online businesses to stop trusting those compromised certificates.

The Minister adds that he does not believe that this undermines EU data privacy regulations. He is not planning to investigate the matter because this is an issue that affects the entire EU, so the European Commission should be the one talking to the US government about this. He also is unable to have the Dutch Data Protection Authority investigate it because they supposedly are an independent organization and set their own agenda and priorities.
