White Space database system to face its first trial – One of the database networks that will manage unlicensed broadband devices across the country will face its first public test beginning this Monday at 8:30am, and it will be a long one

The Federal Communications Commission’s Office of Engineering Technology says that for 45 days it will facilitate a public trial of vendor Spectrum Bridge’s database—designed to identify “white space” television band channels authorized for unlicensed use by broadband devices.

Technological breakthrough: Dutch National Police and provider Leaseweb fighting distribution of child abuse images online. They will block uploads of child abuse images and the IP address of the uploader will be shared with law enforcement if needed

Images posted on or uploaded to any website hosted by Leaseweb will be compared to child abuse images known to authorities. The filtering technology is based on the use of digital fingerprints of the illegal files and images.

BREIN’s Tim Kuik counts on payment providers to tackle illegal file sharing sites

“Perhaps this collaboration will create a kind of notice and takedown policy, where rights holders or their representatives, such as BREIN, can notify payment providers of irregularities with their customers. The payment service can subsequently take action against the illegal platform based on their terms and conditions.”
