1. Once again, nobody had to confess.
2. Once again the criminals won’t pay for their crimes – you will.
3. Criminals who aren’t punished commit more crimes.
4. Bank CEOs keep getting rich while misdeeds happen on their watch – and are still treated like respectable people.
5. Citigroup was “conceived in sin” by government officials – some of whom got very rich there afterwards.

With the help of mathematical analysis Swiss scientists have proved that transnational holdings are the world’s rulers. In order to present the proofs in favour of the above-mentioned, the researchers have processed the information about 37 million firms around the world in a bid to find out who has what. The results were surprising enough: 147 companies which account for 40 per cent of the world economy make up its backbone. There’s also a separate list, including 10 financial institutions, which, as the scientists believe, are part of the previously mentioned “world super-corporation”. Thus, we can say that a plot aimed at the seizure of the world riches has been revealed.

The top 10 agencies include the well-known banks – such as Barclays, Merrill, Lynch, JP Morgan Chase, and UBS. There’re little-known names on that list too – for example, Capital Group Companies, FMR Corporation, AXA, and State Street Corporation, which are known only in the narrow investment-banking circles. At the same time, Managing Director of the Company AG Capital Alexander Agibalov warns against exaggeration.  He acknowledges though that today the financiers are actually the world’s main lobbyists.

So, to expect the young people to be able to construct a coherent narrative when nobody else in the culture is capable of doing that is, I think, a little unfair

Boat was originally exposed by security experts on Sky News, while The INQUIRER exclusively revealed the first pictures of the mysterious hacker woman who is famed for her monocle, top hat and false moustache.

Boat’s husband, Luke Sec, who was exposed by the prosecutor of the hacker known as Topiary, was also in attendance, though he refused to comment beyond saying that he was mainly there to support his wife. Both Boat and Sec disappeared almost as quickly as they appeared, vanishing into the night and a sea of anonymous faces.

Several reports of the event (here, here and here) noted from Ofcom that a number of key issues still need to be resolved. Problems surround everything from the definition of an ISP and subscriber to which ISPs will be subject to the code. In particular Ofcom pointed to the difficulty in ensuring a good standard of evidence.

Meanwhile Rights Holders took the oppertunity to criticise both BT and TalkTalk for their continued efforts to delay the DEAct through a shaky Judicial Review process, which was recently put back on the table after a successful appeal (here).

At this point Richard Mollet, CEO of the Publishers Association (Rights Holder), weighed in to praise BSkyB ( Sky Broadband ) and Virgin Media for not obstructing the DEA, helping to develop legal alternatives and “looking at ways in which we can develop voluntary solutions on things like site blocking“.

The European Parliament’s (EP) committee for Industry, Transport, Research and Energy (ITRE) has “unanimously adopted” a new amendment that seeks to nudge the European Commission (EC) into accepting a tougher stance on the protection of Net Neutrality (i.e. the principal of treating all internet traffic as equal).
