Among the copyright owners who have accused MegaUpload of piracy, including software and video game companies, none of them presented the FBI with more “significant evidence” about MegaUpload than the MPAA, according to multiple sources.

The roots of the MPAA’s involvement in the MegaUpload case can be traced back to the start of the investigation. MacBride’s office said the FBI’s probe began in March 2010. According to film industry sources, that was roughly the same period that the MPAA first referred MegaUpload and DotCom to law enforcement.

And the MPAA didn’t just gripe. The trade group’s antipiracy team turned over to FBI agents extensive information they had compiled about MegaUpload’s operations and management, the sources said.

In a new round of seizures the US authorities have taken control of domain names belonging to several popular sports streaming sites including Firstrowsports.tv, Firstrowsports.com and Soccertvlive.net. All affected sites now redirect to a notice from DOJ/ICE. In common with last year’s campaign, the new round of seizures appears to be part of another “Super Bowl Crackdown” targeting sites that link to unauthorized sports streams.

The Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office has publicly stated that it had The National Police Internal Investigations Department investigate various issues raised by complainants. The result of the investigation is that the complaints against the Secretary of Justice are ‘inconsistent‘ and they lack detail. The complaints have been labeled ‘unreliable‘.

More importantly, claims in relation to the Secretary General’s trips to Turkey have been verified and no confirmation has been found that the Secretary General was in Turkey as in accordance with the various accusations.

The National Police Internal Investigations Department has also interviewed The Secretary General and a passport check was conducted.

Finally, it was concluded that also a new complaint filed in 2011 by Hüseyin Baybasin (see below) only contained the same information as his complaint filed in 2007. The latter claim offered no grounds for further investigations.

Both the complainants and the Secretary General have been informed about the decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office today.

The Dutch reporter Bas Paternotte refused the offer because the Secretary General added that the conversation would be off the record and no representatives of the Ministry of Justice would be present.

Accusations:

1. Sexual abuse of at least two and possibly three Turkish minors in Turkey and possibly also children in the Czech Republic (whether certain relevant visits to Turkey have been made is being denied by the Dutch Justice Department, but the department refuses to disclose information from their archives which could provide definitive proof);

2. Perverting the course of justice by visiting the prison of convicted Kurdish heroin smuggler Hüseyin Baybasin, who is currently serving a life sentence in a Dutch prison and who is said to obtain evidence regarding the activities of Joris Demmink. Joris Demmink has visited the prison while Hüseyin Baybasin was incarcerated there;

3. Ordering police investigators to tamper with intercepted phone conversations by Hüseyin Baybasin (original unedited phone conversations have not been released to the lawyers of Hüseyin Baybasin);

4. Ordering police investigators to eavesdrop on conversations by journalists who were investigating the matter;

5. Blocking any investigation into his own person by threatening to disclose sensitive information involving participation in sex parties by one or more members of the Dutch royal family and their attorney(s) / advisor(s).
