Hacker / reporter Brenno de Winter to BREIN: Stop fighting digitization!

Highlights of his plea:

  • Litigation against The Pirate Bay has limited success as thanks to the Dutch blog Geenstijl.nl the site can be accessed via proxy
    http://fucktimkuik.org/
  • The anti-piracy organization is using the same arguments that were used by the ACTA designers when trying to attack the hosting provider of file sharing platform SumoTorrent. The ACTA arguments have been rejected.
  • Makers of fountain pens, manufacturers (and rental stores) of CDs and DVDs, video-editors, makers of rubber stamps, engineers who install land line phones, fans of analog photography and representatives of the traditional newspapers will all have a difficult time due to the digitization of society and this is something we’ll just have to live with and accept.

Resistance is futile. People will continue to download, including the author himself. The only thing that BREIN will achieve is the realization of drastic legal measures which will affect everyone’s freedom. That’s nice for dictatorships but detrimental to societal progress.
