New Evidence Is 2 Days Old And Already Dutch Secret Service, Internal Affairs And Public Prosecutor’s Office Conclude It Is NOT Necessary To Investigate Joris Demmink

Who said intelligence, enforcement and prosecution authorities in The Netherlands are non-functional and horribly slow and bureaucratic?

The Dutch Minister of Justice Ivo Opstelten has today stated (Word document) that he has asked the Dutch Secret Service, Internal Affairs enforcement agency and the Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office whether new investigations were needed as a result of the new evidence and new witnesses which have been presented in a news article by Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad on Saturday 6th October 2012, a mere two days ago.

Their answer is a resounding NO.

Again, a conclusion drawn without any criminal investigation, fact finding or interviews with witnesses or reporters. One would almost start to believe that the Dutch government somehow cannot afford this ordeal to be scrutinized in a proper fashion.

Allegations against the Dutch Secretary General of the Justice Department Mr. Joris Demmink will NOT be investigated because the Minister of Justice simply knows the man is innocent. Welcome to the legal system in The Netherlands in 2012.

Typically the speed with which this type of conclusions are being drawn indicate that authorities feel they simply cannot afford the ‘guiltiness’ of their highest ranking justice official. And that conclusion can only be drawn when one knows all the facts already, and perhaps feels that third parties will not be allowed to blackmail the Dutch government in any way, shape or form. And as such, they may have decided that the country as a whole is more important than any individual (victim or perpetrator), or due process for that matter.

Will this be a decision that the Dutch population will easily forgive? Or easily forget?
