Two conclusions can be reached from Savile’s closeness to the royal family, firstly, and this is in no way an accusation, even after MI5 informed them of Savile’s sordid practices the Royal family being fully aware of Savile’s antics chose not dissociate themselves with Sir Jimmy and did not deem them distasteful.
Secondly, the security services and honours commission failed to investigate Jimmy Savile properly and the vetting systems they use to identify suitable candidates for honours and access to VIPs are a joke.
We expect better from those that the establishment identifies as of good character, when this fails the character of the establishment is itself called into question.
